Is The Ftc In Bed With The International Franchise Association?
Category: BusinessMany franchise rights groups believe that the FTC or Federal Trade Commission is in bed with the International Franchise Association or IFA. Recently, I fielded a heated comment about this very issue. The former franchisee felt that they got no satisfaction from the FTC on their issues. Of course, the FTC does work quite closely with the IFA, business and government often work together to assist commerce in the United States.
Thus, their comments about the FTC supporting the IFA are true enough, but the FTC does the same thing with Big Parma and attacks nutritional supplement businesses or on behalf of the Teachers Union, goes after “hooked on phonics” and Adam Smith warned us about this. I am not sure one should be mad at the “government” since you and I own that government, more you should be mad at yourself, because the bureaucracy and blob has gotten so big it no longer stands for the principles we agreed too.
What is the FTC suppose to do? Well they ought to take a neutral position in the franchising industry. At the same time we need to promote jobs in our nation and our economy and we need to pay attention why our regulators do what they do. So, when I was asked; Is the FTC in Bed with The International Franchise Association?
My answer is I have no idea, but I guarantee you if I lived for 1,000 years, you would never catch me in bed with a bureaucrat, of course the IFA is full of lawyers in their organization and are they probably willing to do just about anyone in my opinion, my sole personal opinion and thank you for asking. Please think on this.
