Spam A Word That Incites Hatred Among The Masses And Me Too
Category: BusinessSpam today is a multi million dollar business that takes advantage of everyone out there.
As technology gets smarter for detecting and removing spam from your email box the spammers just become more savvy. They don’t mind phishing around. They don’t mind stealing your email address and then using it to send spam to millions of people.
How do I know that spammers love to steal email addresses?
Because it has happened to me. My email has been stealthed (stolen) by spammers.
Just recently they did it to me again. I started getting bounce backs by the hundreds. I didn’t send out the spam but according to some one like Spam Cop I did.
What did I do to deserve the privilege of a spammer using my email address to spam thousands if not millions of people?
I guess that my email exists and they are after more money.
What can be done to stop a spammer from using my email address?
- Don’t post your email address anywhere where someone can see your email and if you have to encrypt it. Do something so the spammer robots won’t find your or understand what your email address is.
- Don’t use forms where the email is exposed in the html, php or other code.
- Protect your domain information so your email address doesn’t show up in the whois information for your domain.
- Don’t sign up for anything that is supposeto be free - Leads companies quite often offer free things to get you on a list and who knows who this information is sold to. The adage is true there is nothing really for free. If it is it will cost you in one way or another.
These are only a couple of suggestions but I am sure if you search on the internet for information on how to avoid spam you will find a boat load of information much more detailed then the above.
Just remember spam started from one computer company 30 years ago in sending out an ad to about 400 people without permission and guess what. That company made money so the real motive behind spam today is to pry money out of your wallet and put into the spammers wallet.
Since spam in itself is not ethical then doing something unethical isn’t against their grain just ours when they steal something as precious as your email address.
