Tips For Accumulating As Many Credit Card Points As Possible
Category: Health and FitnessMy sister recently mentioned that she was considering looking into a rewards card of some type and wanted to know if I had any thoughts on the subject. Of course I did and I started by asking her what types of rewards she was interested in. (That’s always my first advice for making certain you get the best rewards card.) By the time we finished talking I realized that an article identifying how to earn more points with a rewards card might be really helpful.
As a general rule, the interest rates on rewards cards will be a bit higher than on regular cards. So, if your credit isn’t so good or, if you tend to carry a balance on your card each month, a balance transfer card with a low or zero interest might be a better choice. However, if your credit is good to excellent and you rarely carry a balance on your cards, the rewards can be, well, rewarding.
The first step to get the most points that your rewards program offers, you’ll want to review the rules. Many rewards cards offer bonus points as long as the initial purchase is made within a specified time period. When comparing rewards cards; review the fine print for caps on rewards that you can earn. And, you’ll want to pay special attention to the purchases that will earn you the greatest rewards. Some of the more popular airline cards will double or even triple the bonus points when you use your card to purchase airline tickets or hotel reservations. The same goes for many of the gas credit cards and cash back cards.
And, if you’re comfortable shopping online, there’s even more potential for savings. Many of the more popular business credit cards as well as personal credit cards offer extra points when you shop at specific partners. Discover? cards, along with other card issuers, offers an online shopping network for even bigger discounts.
