In the verse “O Prophet! We have sent you as a witness, and a bringer of good news and a warner” (Surat al-Ahzab: 45), Allah describes the Prophet (saas) as a bearer of glad tidings and a warner. The Prophet (saas) always warned people against the sufferings to be experienced in Hell, and told them of the desirable future that awaited the good in this world, and of the infinite life of the Paradise in the hereafter. Allah reveals this characteristic of the Prophet (saas) in the Qur’an thus:

It was 2:00 am, but the light from the moon cast a glow that illuminated the darkness and allowed me to see into the night. I looked up into the sky and a voice within my being proclaimed, “I love you like the moon.” I immediately smiled because I recognized the voice of the Spirit that often spoke directing me to listen and understand God’s truth.

It was a voice of kindness that knew me completely. A Spirit that comforted me when my journey in this world was hard. A loving Savior that helped me carry the difficult burdens of life with lightness and a freedom that could only have been sent by a supernatural power.

Oftentimes the only way to get what you really need is to give up what you already have.

It doesn’t seem to make sense but it’s true. This is a particularly difficult concept to pull off in such a materialistic world because our society uses money and material wealth as a measure of our value as people.

ART AND SPIRITUALITY

What is the relationship between art and spirituality? We know there is one, but can we articulate it? An artist might say he is dedicated to his art. Does that connote spirituality? Is the art his spiritual path? Many would not take him seriously – yes, one honors the artist’s choice to dedicate himself to art. But dedication to one’s work does not necessarily a spiritual path make. Or does it? “I’m dedicated to my art.” Pshaw, many would say, and, don’t take it so seriously.

Have you ever wondered why there is struggle and pain in this human existence? Further, have you ever wondered why we choose at different times in our lives to box with a powerful and awesome Spirit that one could ever encounter in life’s journey? What are you expecting to win? Without a genuine spiritual and true connection to God, one is destined to live in a word of perpetual fog and a void that is so vast in struggle until the manifestation of “stored pain” overwhelms your life. So, you have elected to box with God, go ahead, with your gloves on—”swing!”
