A couple of years ago, there was quite a stir on the internet over some free videos released by Andy Jenkins and Brad Fallon called Going Natural about Search Engine Optimization.
Going Natural was basically some videos showing how a couple of web sites selling wedding favors were pulling in about $16,000. a day by organic search. They also showed scientific studies how pay per click (PPC) ads only gets a fraction of the traffic and clicks received versus sites which appear in the top 3 positions of organic search results.

In my book, Marketing Your Small Business For Big Profits, I talk about the importance of separating yourself from the pack. Finding your unique benefits and promoting them.
It is a Unique Selling Proposition (USP) and it lets everyone know why they should use you over all the others that provide the same service or product.
There are many steps involved in creating your USP and then what do you do with it when you have it? Essentially you want to use it in some form in all of your marketing as well as use it to develop your 30 second commercial or your elevator speech. You know, that short and concise answer to everyones favorite question - “So what do you do?”
Why are so many companies utilizing network marketing as their chosen method of marketing?
Simply stated, it’s more efficient! They do not pay for marketing, distribution or sales until after the sale is made and the product is delivered. Compare this to traditional marketing where a company can spend millions of dollars on advertising, as well as all costs associated with an employee based sales force such as benefits, support staff, communication, travel and office, before any product is sold. Charles Givens, financial expert and best selling author of Wealth Without Risk, points out that 80 percent of the cost of getting a product to consumers today is the result of marketing expenses. Companies are looking to move their cost as close to the point of sale as possible.
I’ve always been a big proponent of press releases. They’re short, simple, and to the point. But lately I’ve been asking myself if they’re relevant in a world where journalists are bombarded with releases and there are thousands of releases online at any given point online.
I decided, yes, they are relevant. Here’s why.
It was a night in July 2007 when a new town hall was discovered. Men and women from around the United States participated in a debate of sorts between 2008 Presidential hopefuls on the Democratic ticket.
What made this event unique is not that the candidates took their message on the road, but that the candidates received questions via video streaming site YouTube.
While this forum made for some rather interesting video questions, the implications of the use of video streams were phenomenal. For the first time citizens from across the United States were invited to be a part of something that simply required the ability to stream video on the web.
Successful relationships are the foundation of all success in life: both professionally and personally. Professionally, effective relationship building skills can mean the difference between triumph and defeat, particularly in a sales and/or service based environment. The importance of building strong, long-term professional relationships by taking the time to effectively “follow-up,” cannot be overstated. Yet many sales specialists such as realtors, pharmaceutical sales representatives and small business or home-based business owners simply fall short in this area, not for lack of trying, but simply because they lack guidance and expertise. Following-up is an art form that once mastered, will be an invaluable element for sales success. As Robert Collier once said, “Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.”
It doesn’t matter whether this is your first professional conference as an exhibitor or vendor or whether you have exhibited at hundreds of conferences, knowing how to plan for the conference and the promotional items you will give away is an important skill to learn.
Most of the time a vendor has a table or booth at the conference where they can display their materials and products. You will most often find that vendors have what are called promotional conference folders as a part of the promotional materials. Promotional conference folders are really no different than folders in general except that they have been specially designed for the current conference. This happens by having the name of the conference printed on the folders along with the name, logo and business information of the company or business exhibiting.
